Strawberry Pretzel Salad
The weather here has been extremely warm so I chose this Strawberry Pretzel Salad at the perfect time, not to mention the fact that strawberries are $.99 a clamshell.
As I started making this yummy creation I realized that I didn’t have any granulated sugar. So, I used powdered sugar instead. Worked like a charm! :O) This recipe has three steps so you’ll want to plan your time accordingly.
Strawberry Pretzel Salad
2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup melted butter
3 tablespoons sugar, plus 3/4 cup sugar
8 oz cream cheese,
8 oz whipped topping, thawed
6 oz package strawberry gelatin
2 cups boiling water
2 – 10 oz frozen strawberries (I used fresh)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Mix the pretzels, butter, and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Press this mixture into a 9 x 13 pan and bake for 7 minutes. Set aside to cool.
Beat together the cream cheese and 3/4 cup of sugar. Fold in the whipped topping, and spread over the cooled crust. Refrigerate until well chilled.
Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water, and allow to cool slightly. Add the strawberries, and pour over the cream cheese mixture. Refrigerate until serving time.
